Router Protocol to Shut Down by Sept. 30, Destroy 30% of Route Token Supply

Router Protocol, a cross-chain infrastructure project backed by Coinbase Ventures, announced it will cease all operations by Sept. 30, 2026, and permanently burn 303,333,198 ROUTE tokens from its treasury — approximately 30% of the nearly 1 billion total supply. The team cited failed commercialization, licensing, and acquisition talks, as well as capital migration from crypto to AI and declining cross-chain fees. The project raised $4.1 million in 2021 and launched a Layer 1 chain in July 2024, which was shut down in September 2025 due to infrastructure costs, validator bloat, and security risks. Two security incidents in 2025 were also disclosed: a February exploit recovered about 80% of value via negotiation, while a July chain-level breach resulted in unrecovered losses.

Gate Research: Crypto Market Sees Phased Recovery in July, DeFi and Long-Tail Assets Lead Gains

In July 2026, the crypto market staged a phased recovery after June's sharp correction. Total market cap rose from $2.11T to $2.28T, up 8.31%. ETH outperformed with 22.13% gains, driving DeFi blue chips like UNI and AAVE higher. However, the median return of +0.02% highlights structural divergence. Meme coins, AI/InfoFi tokens, and long-tail assets dominated the leaderboard, with AKE surging over 1,000%. Volume analysis shows 28 tokens had volume spikes above 3x, but high-volume signals were mixed. The recovery remains tepid rather than a broad bull run.

PANews releases its top 10 column pieces for August 2026

PANews has published its August 2026 Top 10 column content ranking, a list compiled from all column articles on the platform during the month based on a combined assessment of content quality and readership. Tiger Research took two spots on the list, one on regulatory gaps in Asia’s prediction markets and another on capital outflows from South Korea’s crypto market. Other entries covered Binance’s attempt to build price discovery for U.S. stocks over weekends through Perp and bStocks, the fading wealth effect of exchanges, shifts in AI infrastructure bottlenecks, crypto market rotation after gains in Bitcoin and Ethereum, and the rise of RWA perpetual contracts as an exchange growth engine. PANews also said it created posters for the five most-read articles and used the release to invite more contributors to open columns on the platform. According to the announcement, high-quality submissions may receive homepage recommendations, app push exposure, banner placement, and distribution through core communities. PANews added that its September column ranking is expected to be released around October 5, 2026.

Financial repression returns to the Bitcoin bull case as Europe and the U.S. tighten pressure on savers

Financial repression is back at the center of the Bitcoin macro debate as debt loads climb across major Western economies. In a report highlighted by BlockTempo and citing CoinDesk’s Daybook, recent policy shifts in Europe and the United States are being read as signs that governments are leaning on an old playbook: keeping real rates suppressed, steering institutional money into government debt, and limiting where savings can go. The argument is simple. If cash and bonds lose purchasing power while savings channels are constrained, capital may look for assets outside the core banking system. That has put Bitcoin and gold in the same conversation again. Both rose sharply last week, reviving the “digital gold” narrative around BTC. The report points to two developments in particular: an EU rule taking effect on Jan. 11, 2027 that bars banks headquartered outside the bloc from offering core banking services to EU residents unless they operate through a licensed branch in a member state, and U.S. Treasury buybacks of long-dated debt, which some market participants see as a way to lean against long-end yields. The piece also says traders are watching Kevin Warsh’s speech at Jackson Hole and upcoming U.S. core PCE inflation data for near-term market direction.

Bitcoin Hashrate Down 19% in Longest-Ever Slide as Miners Shift Power to AI

According to BeInCrypto, Bitcoin’s 30-day average hashrate has dropped 19% since November 2025, sliding from 1,108 EH/s to 898 EH/s. Glassnode data shows the nine-month decline is the longest sustained drawdown in the network’s history. The slide coincides with the largest capital migration ever recorded among mining companies. Miners currently hold more than $70 billion in AI contracts. Some electricity capacity originally used for bitcoin mining has been shifted to AI hosting, and that capacity may be difficult to bring back to the Bitcoin network. The report ties the hashrate decline to this corporate shift. It cites Glassnode’s historical data to describe the nine-month stretch as unprecedented. The starting hashrate was 1,108 EH/s, and the latest reading is 898 EH/s, a 19% reduction. The AI contract holdings among miners exceed $70 billion. A portion of power capacity has moved away from bitcoin mining into AI hosting. Whether that capacity returns remains uncertain, according to the report.

PANews releases July 2026 column ranking, with AI-related stories taking seven of the top 10 spots

PANews on Aug. 5 published its Top 10 ranking of column articles for July 2026, a list compiled from overall content quality and readership across all columns on the platform. The outlet framed July as a month of structural adjustment across macro, technology, and crypto markets: AI narratives entered a valuation reset phase, storage stocks pulled back, Bitcoin ended the month at about $62,900 with a 7.3% gain, while spot trading activity weakened and on-chain trading share climbed. Against that backdrop, AI and robotics dominated reader attention, accounting for seven of the 10 most popular articles. The top five entries came from animajoe, Think AI, MSX Research Institute, Tiger Research, and EX.IO. Topics ranged from AI hardware supply chains and humanoid robots to storage-sector valuations, AI agent wallets, and whether an AI bubble could mirror the 2000 dot-com collapse. The remaining ranked pieces covered stablecoin business models, second-half AI allocations, Bitcoin mining under U.S. grid stress, volatility in South Korean equities, and bottlenecks shaping the next leg of AI speculation. PANews also used the ranking announcement to invite more writers to open columns on its platform.
